TESTIMONIALS
If you want to work in this business, I’ve learned that the best place to train is the Harvey Lembeck Comedy Workshop. Thanks to the Workshop I’ve booked 4 pilots in two years, as well as numerous episodics.
Jackie Debatin – Life, The Unit, Girlfriends
(multiple episodes), Nip Tuck, Two & A Half Men, The Office (multiple episodes), 24,
Cold Case, Without A Trace, ER, Friends, Blind Justice, recurring on That 70’s
Show
The HLCW has become my funny gym. It's the one place I can go to exercise my funny bones and muscles, as well as the place I can go to fall flat on my face, get right back up and be applauded. The instruction of Helaine, Michael, and Cal has encouraged me to adopt the shameless and fearless mindset it takes to succeed in this town!

“I started training at the Harvey Lembeck
Comedy Workshop ten months ago. Since
then I’ve booked ten prime-time television jobs and a
national commercial. The improv skills have proven invaluable: I audition better, I work more, and I enjoy it all. After this kind of training nothing
intimidates you – and that’s freedom.”
I’ve done over 75 episodics
and I credit the Harvey Lembeck Comedy Workshop for
my long career.
This is the best class in comedy for actors. Thank you so much. I am enjoying
every moment and learning so much.

The only way to
obtain true success as an artist is to find the joy in what is really just hard
work. I have studied acting all over
A
place where the only thing to take seriously is your love of Comedy.
The sense of fun,
freedom and fearlessness I’m developing by coming here every week, has
undoubtedly been critical to my booking national commercials, episodic, pilots
and even a lead role at Chicago’s renown Goodman Theatre in a play directed by
one of the country’s top Tony Award winning directors. It’s a great
workshop for anyone who wants to master the art of comedy. Every class is full of laughter, challenge and enlightenment.
The atmosphere that’s created in the workshop is like
stepping out of a plane, pulling the ripcord on your parachute knowing you’ll
land safely. The tools they provide help you flex your
comedy muscles. You owe it to yourself to keep flexing
those comedy muscles and honing your craft in an environment as supportive and
positive as The Harvey Lembeck Comedy Workshop.

Every time I get
on stage at the Workshop, I take risks because I’m safe and in the hands of
teachers who have helped shape some of the best comedic talents in the business. They’ve help me open up creatively, trust my comedic
instincts, and grow
beyond my wildest expectations.
I haven’t worked on a set yet where the skills
I’ve learned at The Harvey Lembeck Comedy Workshop
haven’t been needed. Directors know the
difference.
I know I’m in the
right comedy class, when I always leave laughing. More
importantly, The Harvey Lembeck Comedy Workshop has
provided me a safe and positive environment to take risks and discover my
comedic side. As a result, I’ve
gained more confidence in my sitcom and commercial auditions, which has led me
to more jobs!

The Lembeck method of teaching comedy improv
is ‘real world’ useful;
They’re not just
playing games. I can apply the improv
comedy skills I’ve learned at Lembecks in any arena –
commercial, theatrical, voice acting, stand up and writing. The
ability to improvise is vital to an actor.
I do a lot of voice-overs and when you go in for animation they really
rely on the actor to bring additional ideas and dialogue and to bring the
character to life. Imporov
is the key when it comes to animation auditions. The more you improvise the more they love
you.
This class never stops being fun. It
is the most amazing experience. From the first month I
was in class I started to see a real change. I opened
up and became more confident and outgoing.
I can see now that I have started to book jobs more often…Thanks to The
Harvey Lembeck Comedy Workshop.

Improv is an invaluable tool, and The Harvey Lembeck
Comedy Workshop has given me the confidence to walk into any audition or on set
and be comfortable with any direction thrown at me. Auditions
and work are less intimidating when you feel you can play with the best of
them. Plus, I am able to try anything
new in class and not be afraid to fall on my face because the class is so
supportive and warm. Since I started training at the Workshop I’ve booked over 10 national commercials
Shriek If You Know What I

I attribute every
commercial I’ve booked to the Harvey Lembeck
Comedy Workshop. It seems every audition requires some improvisation and thankfully, the Lembeck training gives me the confidence to completely trust myself. I have shot over 50 commercials. In the last seven years I have averaged 5 commercials running at a time.
